On Poppy wearing & World War I Commemoration 2018.

German dead in WW1 Trench – Wikipedia Commons

Making the news is one James McClean footballer, Derryman who refuses to wear the poppy for his English football club in the run-up to the hundred year commemoration of the first world war. His stance is that “poppy wearing” commemorates all the British war dead and not just those who died in World War 1 and 2. He (McClean) also insists that the British army have a long history of oppression in Ireland and in particular his home town of Derry.

Being Irish I would tend to agree with him on the stance of the British army which actively fought against Irish freedom and the threat of armed invasion in 1921- forced the partition of Ireland against the wishes of the majority. Personally I wouldn’t countenance wearing the poppy and feel that it is unfitting for a Irish person to wear one.  I don’t object to people going to Commemorations but see the poppy wearing as sucking up to the “Brits” and their imperialism of the past .  My point of view is that the over  300,000 Irishmen who fought in the Great War  fought for Britain and her empire and not for Ireland.

Another point to make what was World War 1 about ? Some Austrian Archduke who though of high rank wasn’t very popular at the time. WW 1 wasn’t fought for the freedom of anybody though it brought the end of many of the empires in Europe by the time it was finished. The “peace” that was made left Europe simmering for another war which came twenty years later. There was little justification for sending millions of men over the top to their death, one can remember the dead but not the reasons they were sent to war in the first place.

International Observe the Moon Night October 20th.

Well someone ( Nasa ) has decreed that Saturday October 20th is ” international observe the Moon night”.

I guess you could say we have seen it all before but the moon never ceases to amaze me. It is a barren rock, lifeless and devoid of an atmosphere that they haven’t been back to since the early seventies. They seemingly didn’t rate moon exploration rate very highly. There is much more interest  there now and they hope to establish a moon colony/moon base in the coming decade along the lines of the International Space Station (ISS). The moon has a day/night of about two weeks and temperatures vary from 80+ degrees Celsius in the day time to – 150 degrees Celsius in the night time. So along with solar radiation its a pretty hostile environment. Some see the future in human habitation in mining, space tourism and using the moon as a “dustbin” for dirty industries that are present on Earth.

Human habitation of the Moon would likely lead to more colonization of the solar system. There is an Moon observation by Shannonside Astronomy in Limerick – Weather permitting on Saturday night. You might get a bit more detail using their telescopes than with a pair of binoculars. Might be worth a look.

RTE, the Media and the Politics of Tweedledum and Tweedledee.

Something that has come to my notice is the fact that RTE and other media are  portraying Fianna fail’s  Micheal Martin as the next Taoiseah without there being a general election. Surely this is “the cart before the horse” kinda of stuff and an attempt to “lead” people into voting for Fianna fail. Its an undemocratic method of trying to influence people into voting for Tweedledum or Tweedledee.

People should be able to make a decision on whom they will vote for when all the facts are laid before then  and not before. The media including Rte are doing the people no favors and acting in the interests of their owners, Mi5 and other parties who don’t want to see any change in Ireland’s political scene.

I don’t any reason for anyone to put their trust in Fianna fail as they left the “state” almost bankrupt and a huge increase in the national debt for which every man, woman and child owes €45,000. That’s hardly a recommendation for Fianna fail and their “Boom Bust ” politics. Both Fianna fail and Fine Gael are know for their graft and the fact that they stand for very little except maintaining the Status Quo (of serving the rich).

Ireland(26 counties) needs a change of politics to reach our full potential and to ensure that everyone is given a fair chance to succeed and not told to emigrate by our political landlords. In the meantime someone needs to kick up a fuss on the behavior of  RTE and other media.

The Summer that was..

Well Summer is well gone at this stage but it was a different Summer to previous years in that we got a heatwave for a few weeks- temperature over 30 degrees celsius and a cloudy haze for the rest of the Summer. Farmers didn’t appreciate the dry spell as their crops wouldn’t grow without rain and many farmers are likely to post a big negative for the year.  Alot will depend on what kind of winter we get long/short, dry/wet and what kind of government aid is provided. Not a good year for farmers by any means.

On the other hand it was nice to get some good weather, you could go to the beach / Ballybunion and enjoy yourself though I am told the water was pretty cold. It was a relief that it wasn’t pounding rain all the time as previous years have done. Sometimes the “Summer” is as bad as the winter which is bad for people’s spirits, pockets though good for travel agents.

Hopefully the Summers will improve for us in the coming years. I live in hope.

Nama not Included/ Ireland’s National Debt third highest per person in Developed World.

In the news today is Minster of finance Pascal Donhoe announcement that Ireland’s (Rep) national debt is likely to increase in the coming years. It stands at over €211 billion (with interest payments totaling  nearly €6 billion – rte) and i believe that National Assets Management Agency  (Nama) is not included in this figure, which would add €70/80 billion to it.

What can one say about our Debt which amounts to €45,000 for every man, woman and child in the “state”. Its money which has been badly spent shoring up banks, speculators/ property developers and so on. It has also been used to cover the decrease in taxes when the property bubble burst. It shows up the extremely poor financial management of Fianna fail and other parties,  who put nothing aside for the rainy day. Corruption/ Graft by political parties is at the heart of the financial mess. They allowed the “swindle” of the Irish people by banks, speculators etc … who made big profits at their expense. However these same people (speculators/developers/builders) didn’t share their profits but yet made the public take the losses €???  billion. We could have modernized the rail network, built new roads, schools and hospitals, light rail and a metro for Dublin and so much more for that money. Yet bailing out the “fat cats” took precedent. Was that fair ?

2fm’s Colm & Jim Jim Liar Liar Show

Well well how time has flown.

it is all of ten years ago to the day when I was attacked by 2fm Dj’s Colm Hayes and Jim Jim Nugent. They failed to name me directly but put stuff out on “2010” (my old blog ferdia2010). It was very racy stuff indeed ! They asserted that i downloaded, “snuff”movies -untrue , stuff about “Whips” and whipping people, bisexuality and of course the smell !!

My  character was assassinated and made to be globally humiliated  but whatever happened their reason that they had to rerun the “Lisbon treaty” disappeared overnight  and the Djs started putting out Death threats saying that they would “wrap a towel around my head” if i didn’t shut up.  I wouldn’t be silenced or act guilty for those bastards  At the same time i remember that my atm card wouldn’t work with the machines and I had to go into the bank to get money. That was a strange thing to happen.

Time went on and in September a member of the audience on Questions and Answers asked whatever happened to “crack of the whip stuff” they failed to answer the Question and the same night they rolled out the “Bank Guarantee” and more or less drowned out what they had done .

Attempts were made to sue RTE but the state did everything possible  to block me from suing, they deleted my emails before i got them, the comments were stopped on my blog and I am sure they intercepted the post as well. I instructed a solicitor to sue RTE but he fobbed me off  saying he hadn’t got a reply but then refused to sue when i found out he had got a reply. Also i had written to Sinn Fein asking for help but they refused to do anything , it was like be given a penalty kick and then refusing to take it. Something must be very wrong like being involved in the thing in the first place.

Brian Cowen and his government should have fallen but were kept in power  by outside agencies .

In November (of 2008) i started my campaign and i started to assail the Dj’s who had defamed me, the pair of pricks Colm Hayes and Jim Jim Nugent, sewer rats they are . They couldn’t back up anything and became very quiet . I nearly got it out what they had done when events in Mumbai India blew me off the agenda again. I tackled the minister Mary Hanafin whose idea it was to come at me  but met with stony silence despite being “flamed”.

My efforts to sue RTE and whoever else was involved came to nothing. The Lisbon treaty was put through without their scandal coming out. So its there to be undone. The whole episode had a serious effect on my health and i was quiet ill.

I dedicate this song “Nothing has been Proved ” to the DJs and Mary Hanafin.

John McManus in the IT puts it very neatly…

St Vincent’s encapsulates one of the main – if not the main – structural problems within the Irish health service: the interweaving of the private and public hospital systems and all the perverse incentives its creates. At its very simplest private hospitals cannot prosper unless the public hospital system fails. Organisations such as St Vincent’s and individuals such as consultants with a foot in both camps have a vested interest in maintaining this status quo – if not to exacerbate it.
